6 days Marrakech desert tour itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech
We will pick you up from Marrakech airport and transfer to your Riad in the medina. You will be warmly welcomed, and spend the first night in a beautiful riad in the medina of Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech to Ouarzazate
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and head to Ouarzazate. Known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Along the way, you’ll pass through stunning landscapes, including the majestic Atlas Mountains and the picturesque Tizi n’Tichka pass. Make a stop at UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified village that has been featured in numerous films and TV shows. Visit the cinema studios and the Taourirt kasbah. Spend the night relaxing in a hotel.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges
Today, your adventure continues east towards the Dadès Gorges, through a rugged desert landscape and picturesque Berber villages. We will stop at the Skoura oasis. Where you will have the opportunity to visit the Amridil kasbah, a remarkable example of the region’s traditional architecture. Then, we will continue our route through the city of roses and the Dades valley. Admiring the spectacular landscapes that surround us, until reaching the magnificent Dades gorges. This evening, you will have the opportunity to share a meal and a night at a local’s home. An authentic experience that will allow you to discover the daily life of the inhabitants of this fascinating region.
Day 4: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
This morning, after enjoying a delicious breakfast at a local’s home, we leave the Dadès Gorges and head towards the Todra Gorges. Along the way, we will be amazed by the spectacular landscapes of rocky mountains sculpted by time.
Arriving at the Todra Gorges, we will take the time to walk along the river, admiring the impressive limestone walls that rise on either side of the valley. Climbing enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to test their skills on the cliffs which attract climbers from all over the world.
After exploring the gorges, we continue our route towards Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossils and its Berber culture. We’ll stop for lunch and maybe even visit one of the local fossil workshops.
Finally, we will reach our final destination for the day: Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara Desert. As sunset approaches, we will travel to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where we will ride camels for an unforgettable experience. We will then witness a magnificent sunset over the dunes before settling into our Berber camp for the night, where a delicious traditional dinner will await us under the stars.
Day 5: Merzouga
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara Desert, a truly unforgettable experience. After breakfast at camp, spend the day exploring the surrounding area. Walk the dunes, try your hand at sandboarding on the slopes or simply relax and admire the breathtaking scenery. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Berber dinner accompanied by live music around a campfire.
Day 6: Merzouga to Marrakech
At the end of your trip, say goodbye to the desert and begin the journey back to Marrakech. Take one last look at the vast expanse of the Sahara as you return through the Atlas Mountains and towards the bustling city. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where you can spend your last night remembering the unforgettable experiences of the last week.
